  2. willingness to cooperate, political commitments at national and international level, agreed target, sound science, etc… • we have to put focus more on transboundary aspect • need to work cross sectorally and interministerially • the trialogue process should be applied the IWRM is an elementary pillow for the adaptation to climate change needs to be implemented as a first step • optimization the use of limited and valuable water resources to meet changing water demands

  3. the effect of mitigation is irrelevant to water managers because they have to adapt short-term • it should be more focus on non-structural measures water and climate models needs be linked • economic instruments need to be consistently applied in particular in the context of legal instruments • planning needs to take into account human behavior motivated by self interest • optimization the use of limited and valuable water resources to meet changing water demands

  4. Session 5 • Funding is a challenge, • We cannot expect much from international funds => governments obligations • Potential opportunities from upgrading existing systems

  5. Guidance should be further developed on: - participatory approach e.g.health aspects among others, etc. - financial issues need to implement case studies, in particular for the transboundary cooperation - solidarity in sharing risks and cost issues

  6. Important finding: • With regard to measures concerning adaptation to climate change we are still at the beginning of the implementation process
