  3. QEP Overview • Quality Enhancement Plan • Timeline: April, 2012 to March, 2017 • Goal: Improve student learning outcomes by enhancing learning activities intended to support student development of critical thinking skills.

  4. QEP Strands • Course revisions to include activities focused on critical thinking skills • Faculty development • Assessment of student critical thinking skills using a common rubric

  5. October 2012 Newsletter—provided an overview of the QEP

  6. Faculty Development • Share and talk with colleagues regarding insights and new ideas. • Model effective critical thinking activities and best practices. • Develop and improve instructional techniques. • Assess effectiveness of the techniques in supporting student learning outcomes. • Ongoing workshops throughout the academic year.

  7. Course Revisions—Full Time Faculty • Revise courses to incorporate critical thinking skills into class activities. • Time schedule to accomplish revisions.

  8. Year One--Assimilation • Communicate to faculty and students what is in the plan. • Begin course syllabus revisions. • Learn about critical thinking skills and how to enhance them in the classroom. • Focused faculty development topics. • Communicate with students regarding how courses will change. • Share faculty best practices through newsletter and retreat presentations. • Become a “QEP Faculty.”
