  2. Background • TCTP: tertiary collimators with integrated BPM buttons • Gain: • Drastically reduced TCT setup time (gain of a factor ~100) => more flexibility in IR configuration • Reduce orbit margins in cleaning hierarchy => more room to squeeze β* • LHC installation scheduled to start in March 2014, production later this year BPM buttons Courtesy O. Aberle, A. Bertarelli, F. Carra, A. Dallocchio, L. Gentini et al.

  3. CWG October 1st 2012 • From minutes: “The ferrite thermal characteristics after the present thermal treatment are too tight for the LHC vacuum requirements. At room temperature the outgassing flow is above 1e-10 mbar* L/s*cm2. If temperature increases from room temperature to 50 C the outgassing ow is doubled. If temperature increased from 50 C to 100C the outgassing ow is increased by a factor of 10. The present solution is within the limits of LHC acceptance but there is not any safety margin. The VSC proposal a vacuum test of ferrite with increase thermal treatment.”

  4. Today’s meeting • Today’s CWG: updates on impedance, and heating and outgassing after new thermal treatment. What can we conclude on the choice of ferrites? Is any other input needed?
