In your group • Read under Train Types in Germany • Write down at least 3 types of trains and a characteristic. • Under the connections section: • Pick one Travel time to and from • Write down the places in which you will be traveling • How long it will take • Use your textbook on page 262 and the scale to find out how many miles it is from one of the locations of your choosing.

  4. Discuss with a group, and come up with reasons for the following: • Why does the United States not have a high speed rail system? • What would need to happen to be able to have this?

  5. High Speed Rails in the United States. • Use the map of the United States at your table. 1. Create a route for high speed trains throughout all of the United States. (Draw it out on the map with a map pencil.) 2. On the back write down three pros for a high speed rail and three cons for a high speed rail in the United States. 3. Discuss and come up with an answer as to why we are not doing this? What will it take to be able to do this? 4. Present it to the class. • During your presentation put the map on the document camera. • Be able to tell why your group chose your locations for these routes. • Tell your pros, cons, and discussion question
