  1. Merchandising Ella Bunce

  2. Merchandise of my researched films I think that the most heavily merchandised film that I looked at was The Lord of the Rings. For this film Warner Bros. pulled out all the stops and created a vast range of merchandise from toys and board games to exact prop and costume replicas, in particular the iconic images of the rings, Arwen’s necklace and Frodo’s sword. This was due to the mass appeal to children, casual audiences, avid film fans, and lovers of the books. These are some examples >>>>

  3. The Golden Compass was also a prime candidate for marketing merchandise to children. However for this films Warner Bros. also produced expensive film replicas of the Compass as well as cheap, easy to mass produce versions. They also made the standard toy figures of characters and stuffed toys. Pan’s Labyrinth however is not a prime candidate for large merchandise ranges. Being more targeted at adults, who unless they are avid fans and collectors are unlikely to spend much, if any money on merchandise. Although they did produce some collectible products for it’s niche audiences.

  4. Other common film merchandise is of course costumes (in the case of my films , mostly for Lord of the Rings as those costumes are more recognisable), calendars, posters, mugs and video games. Video games were produced for both The Lord of the Rings and The Golden Compass. For The Lord of the Rings in particular the films and books have spawned many games and series of games that have been developed for fans for many years with many version meant to appeal to different types of audiences.
