  3. Gender/Life Span/Skills • Both male and female • Good Hunters ( hunted other birds) • They live up to 20-30 years

  4. History • Eagle is though to be the Hokioi of Maori oral history is recorded in rock art • Artifacts shaped from eagle bone prove the eagle co-existed with early Polynesians • No evidence that humans were targets or prey.

  5. Notable Characters • Gwaihir – descendent from Thorondor • Was the swiftest of the eagles • Lived in the Northern Misty Mountains • Thorondor- King of the Eagles -beak is made of gold -wing span is 180 feet
