  9. Classroom Procedures/ Rules • 1. Come to class prepared • 2. Enter before the bell, settle down once you enter. • 3. Look at the board, work on bell-ringer. • 4. Respect your classmates, myself, and our classroom. • No name calling, laughing, talking over people • 5. Participate in activities and complete assignments.

  10. About the Course • What is “World Studies?” • What do you expect to learn about? • Study of geography, history, culture, current events • Focus on reading skills in preparation for the ACT. • Focus on big ideas such as power, identity, and oppression.

Our Assignments Types of Assignments The Binder Check • Bell-ringers • Cornell Notes • In-class Activities • Reading Assignments • Binder Checks • Reflections • Projects • Assessments • Extra Credit • Daily assignments (BR’s, CN’s, in-class activities, and HW) will get stamps worth a certain point value. • Keep all stamped work in a binder/ folder. • Binder checks take place every 5 weeks and are worth big points. • Worth 400-600 pts.

  12. How can I pass? • 1. Don’t miss class. • 2. Don’t act a fool. • 3. Do your work, especially binder checks • Grading Scale • 100-90 A • 89-80 B • 79-70 C • 69-60 D • 59-0 F

  13. Your Education • This is an opportunity for you to take yourself to a better place in life. • It isn't just about getting a grade or a diploma, its about learning who you are, who you were made to me, and who you can become!
