Initiatives Taken by State Govt. • 13 Coordinators are appointed at district level. • The transportation cost of foodgrain from FCI go downs to school level is revised by taking the actual distance cover. • School Health-Education Card & Referral slips are distributed to all children of primary school through MDM and to Upper Primary School by NRHM under school health programme “CHIRAYU”

  22. Community Participation • School Management Committees (SMC) have been constituted in all the schools. • The SMC is authorized to procure cooking ingredients locally from the local Shops / Fair Price Shops. • SMC is empowered to engage the cook-cum-helper. • Mothers have also been mobilized to supervise the preparation and serving of mid day meal.

  23. Grievance Redressal Mechanism • Public Grievance Redressal system is established under MDM by Toll Free number 18001804132. • Total complaint received – 46 • Complaint redressed – 24 Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India

  29. Proposal for Construction of Kitchen-cum-Store PAB has approved 12,110 kitchen cum store during 2010-11. However fund could be released for 3800 kitchen cum store only. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India

  30. Proposal for Procurement of Kitchen Devices State has utilised only 65% of the grants available for procurement of 17,283 units of kitchen devices. Therefore, not submitting any proposal for remaining kitchen devices. State has Proposed to provide LPG connections to the schools with the balance remaining from kitchen devices grant.   31. Proposed MME Plan • The following activities are proposed in MME Plan : • To develop IVRS based computer application/ software. •   Engagement of manpower at State, District and Block level • To equip each office at the State , District & Block level with required computer hardware and internet facility. •  Publicity , Awareness campaign. •  Training to cook-cum-helper . •  Printing of manual , guidelines etc. •  Research study.   32. ISSUES • Low payment to FCI especially in district Dehradun, Pauri, Almora, and Champawat. • Monitoring mechanism requires strengthening. • Low convergence with NRHM for School Health Prog.
