Solusi (page vi): ABSTRACT DamisHardiantono.The Planning of Optimal FACTS Allocation by Using Genetic Algorithm (Supervised by H. SalamaManjang and H. NajamuddinHarun) The tesis aimed to : 1) determine the part of power system that requires the allocation FACTS (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System) devices by using Genetic Algorithm (GA); 2) analyzed the influence of FACTS devices allocation base on the result of power supply on the power losses and voltage system. The optimal FACTS allocation in the power system was conducted by optimization method with Genetic Algorithm. The variables were optimized by minimizing the power losses on the system. The results revealed that: (1) The optimum SVC was allocated at bus 26 (GI Barawaja) with a rating by 20 MVAr, while the TCSC was allocated at line 26 (GI Soppeng – GI Sidrap) with a rating by -0,7Xline; (2) The allocation of FACTS devices at these places could correct the collapse volatge at bus 24 (GI Tello B 30 kV) from 0.805 pu to 1.047 pu, at bus 26 (GI Barawaja) from 0.690 to be 0.985 pu, and at bus with critical voltage on bus 29 (GI Bontoala) from 0.945 pu to be 0.994 pu; and (3) The total power loss on the line before the optimal FACTS allocation was 20.487 MW and this value was decreased to 17.394 MW after the optimal FACTS allocation.
