  4. Preparation • Specifications • Windows mobile vs Windows Tablets: Full Microsoft Windows  7 or 8 (NO windows RT tablets) PDAs: Windows Mobile versions 5 and 6 (UNICODE is not supported)

  6. MICS CAPI System • All applications to collect and administer data are written in CSPro • Three systems: • Interviewers - data collection – Tablet/PDA • Supervisors – data monitoring and control –Tablet/PDA • Central Office - centralized data and monitor fieldwork - PC

Interviewers - data collection • Start a new Household Questionnaire in a household not previously visited • Return to a Household Questionnaire that is not yet finished (i.e. is still incomplete or has only been partially saved) • Review and/or modify a completed Household Questionnaire • List of all the households assigned will appear

Interviewers - data collection • Transfer data for all questionnaire for this cluster from the interviewer to the supervisor • Share household data for this cluster with other interviewers • Receive household data from other interviewers – this option is used by the person receiving the household data before conducting an individual interview • Modify IDs/delete individuals –to correct problems with IDs in data files • Receive system updates from the supervisor • Receive household assignment from the supervisor

Supervisors – data monitoring and control Activities to control the sample • Review the sample control file • Assign households for the PSU • Send household assignments to interviewers Receiving questionnaires from an interviewer List interviewer questionnaires Create file to send to central office

  11. Training • 2 weeks training (paper questionnaires) including 3 days field exercise + 1 week extra training (PDAs/Tablets) + 4-5 days extra field exercise • High Level Technical Support

  12. Fieldwork • Team composition (no field editor) • Roles and responsibilities of supervisors and measurers • Starting the fieldwork at central location • High Level Technical Support
