  1. Camp Kaitawa By Connor Smith

  2. Introduction Finally Monday arrived. I was very excited but nerves were flying in my head. I was very worried something horrible was going to happen. It was full of adventure and experience. Freezing rain and exhausting mountains to climb, slippery and muddy challenging caves, flying smoke in the cookout, beautiful bushwalks and falls and wonderful talent shows. It was a fun and exhausting camp.

  3. Monday We got to camp Kaitawa. We unpackedour bags out of the trailer. Mrs Baudinet told us to get warmer clothing and a rain jacket ready for a cold and miserable walk. We walked from the camp site past the power station, past the surge chamber and also Lake Kaitawa. Then we walked through a bit of a bush walk. It was very exciting and wonderful nature. When back to the start of the bush walk. We walked up and down the pipeline. It was very steep. When we got back to the campsite we played some games.

  4. Tuesday On Tuesday morning everyone got ready for the Ngamoko walk. We drove to the very start. Then we started walking through a rainforest. We stopped at the Rata tree for morning tea. It was 800- 1000 Yrs old. We got Moro bars and barley sugars for energy. We finally got to the top- 1050m above sea level. Then we had lunch. By the end of the walk it took us 6 hrs. When we got back to the campsite everyone was tired. Then we had tea watched a movie and went to bed.

  5. Wednesday On Wednesday morning we walked the great Waikaremoana walk and had morning tea at lake Waikaremoana and also saw Michael Noonan's grave and also a babies grave which was only 9 months old. Then we had lunch in a hut because it was raining. Then we went to the Onepoto caves. There were about six caves. One of the caves was tiny. The last was pretty big. Then we came home and had tea. It was hamburgers. I had three! We had our quiz night in our bird groups and the winner was Kiwi. That was a good day.

  6. Thursday On Thursday we walked a couple of bush walks and had morning tea at Lake Waikareiti. Later we walked back through the bush and stopped and had lunch. Then we walked through another bush walk and saw a couple of amazing falls. Then we came back to the Campsite and did the confidence course. We did it in our groups to see what group had the best time! Kiwi won! Then we had the Cook out. The smoke was really annoying. My group had Nachos and noodles. It was delicious!

  7. Friday On Friday we were playing Cricket in the court . Then we had to leave. I was pretty sad. But I was also happy to get home.
