  2. OHMS LAW

  3. What is ohms law? Ohm’s Law explains the relationship between voltage (V or E), current (I) and resistance (R) Used by electricians, automotive technicians, stereo installers
  4. VOLTAGE (V) It is the push or pressure behind current flow through a circuit, and is measured in (V) volts.
  5. CURRENT Current refers to the quantity/volume of electrical flow. Measured in Amps (A)
  6. RESISTANCE Resistance to the flow of the current. Measured in Ohms
  7. Chart
  8. General Rule. 1.  Assuming the resistance does not change: As voltage increases, current increases. as voltage decreases, current decreases. 2.  Assuming the voltage does not change: As resistance increases, current decreases. As resistance decreases, current increases.
  9. RECAP!! What is Voltage? What is Current? What is Resistance?
  10. Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZ9Xk0Lln5Y&feature=related Stop at 1 Min mark
  11. How do we used Ohms law
  12. V (E) = I x R I = V R R = V I
  13. How do calculate? Battery voltage is 12V Current is Amp ? Resistance 2 Ohm
  14. How to calculate? Voltage is 12V Current is 4 Amps Resistance Ohms ?
  15. What can we use to measure? Multi meters/ DVOM
  16. Resistors Why do we need resistors To decrease the amount of voltage applied to a component The value of the resistor is marked on the body using coloured rings
  17. Resistors
  18. Resistor color chart
  19. RECAP!! What is Voltage? What is Current? What is Resistance? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj7ewZmG3eo&feature=related
  20. Part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB_JCUw9SoU&feature=related
  21. Load What is a load It is a any electric load on a circuit that does work. Example: Power windows, light bulbs, motors.
  22. Different types of circuit Series circuit : One pathway for current to flow. Example: Old Christmas lights
  23. Parallel Circuit More then one path way for current to flow. Used in most electrical vehicle circuits.
  24. Series and Parallel Circuits 12
  25. Parallel resistance circuit
  26. What it looks like
  27. 1997 Headlight circuit
  28. RECAP!! What is Voltage? What is Current? What is Resistance? What are wiring diagrams? What are the different circuits and there characteristics?
