  2. SCERIN Action Items (2017-2018) • 2017-2018 action items (from SCERIN-5, June 2017) • Improved web site with: participants and projects pages and links to data • Complete P1, advance P2, P3 and P4 • Selection of SCERIN stable reference sites for 30m land products (January-March 2018) • SCERIN data initiative: of active projects, data collections and methods/publications GOFC-GOLD RN Summit 13-16 September, 2017, Tbilisi, Georgia

  3. The 3 Years Plan - Research • SCERIN’s 3 most important research topics (3 RTs) • Changes in vegetation cover, function (yield/assimilation) and ecosystem diversity with transition to free market, agricultural land abandonment and urban expansion • Regional LCLUC validation/verification of methods and products • Inbalance in the water regime of the SCEE, especially the Danube watershed (floods/droughts and fires) - NEW • ! Improved web site with databases GOFC-GOLD RN Summit 13-16 September, 2017, Tbilisi, Georgia

  4. The 3 Years Plan - Training Training associated with the 3 RTs: • Transition from detection of LCC to analysis of trends or LCD • Methods and tools for combined use of diverse datasets, for obtaining information across scales and at relevant time step • Change detection: Landsat + Sentinel + MODIS + Radar • Calibration: VHR + Spectroscopy • Canopy height and structure: photogrammetry and lidar GOFC-GOLD RN Summit 13-16 September, 2017, Tbilisi, Georgia

  5. Current SCERIN Support • Main Sponsorship by GOFC-GOLD/START and NASA/LCLUC • Support of participating professionals from their organizations • Host and regional partnerships offering partial sponsorship GOFC-GOLD RN Summit 13-16 September, 2017, Tbilisi, Georgia

  6. Potential Future Support • SCERIN proposals for joint research projects and networking • Joint Project Proposal 2018, INTERREG, Towards balanced water regime of Central European landscape ; PI: FrantišekZemekintended in 2018 (+Moldova and Ukraine) • Joint Project Proposal EU COST Action as a platform for GOFC-GOLD + SCERIN activities (to consider) • Smaller proposals and collaborative work by collaborating groups within SCERIN • Visiting Scholars (Fulbright, other) • Graduate studies • Research grants • NEW - Opportunity for leveraging/collaboration among the GOFC-GOLD networks for exchange of tools for product validation; and flood, fire and snow prediction and mapping in SCERIN. GOFC-GOLD RN Summit 13-16 September, 2017, Tbilisi, Georgia

  7. Long Term Vision • Active collaboration with the other RNs and the IT • Get SCERIN on the maps GOFC-GOLD RN Summit 13-16 September, 2017, Tbilisi, Georgia

  8. Benefit of having SCERIN • joint projects and publications • networking for knowledge and technology exchange (tools) • using both Landsat-8 and Sentinel-2 data, and knowledge of the processing methodology in land use change monitoring • joint information and database for land monitoring • training to improve qualification • data and methods exchange for satellite products evaluation • facilitate teaching BS classes (tools and curriculum) • student and faculty mobility – short and long term visits GOFC-GOLD RN Summit 13-16 September, 2017, Tbilisi, Georgia
