  2. 2004 • Worked through and pared down existing “laundry list” of Toxics 2000 commitments and sub-commitments to a “Top 10” list • Examined potential to achieve commitment • Assigned Workgroups to commitments

Top 10 Overview • Restoring Impacted Areas • ROC Technology Exchanges – 01, 02, & 04 • Review, revise and implement sediment remediation plans • Finfish Shellfish Consumption Bans/Advisories • Institute improvements to (State) fish advisory programs to assess major recreational fisheries, complete RA’s, ID populations @ risk, and issue advisories where appropriate • Pollution Prevention /B4B • Goal of 1000 participants by 2005 • Establish new B4B goals for 2005-2010

Top 10 List Cont’d • Assessing status of toxic impacts on living resources • Update 1999 Toxics Characterization • 2007 – Target – combined Characterization/TLRI • Urban Storm Water Directive • 2006 – install at least 60 innovative SW mgmt demo projects – emulate pre-development hydrology on public lands in ROC • 2008 – install at least 15 innovative SW mgmt demo projects outside ROC • Establish joint FHA-State DOT workgroup – share and develop innovative practices to reduce use of roadway chemicals

Toxic “Highlights” • 2003-4 Anacostia River sediment capping demo project – AWTA • 2004 – MD and VA release fish consumption advisories on rockfish due to PCBs – similar recommendations – RA consistency • 2004 – VA Tech completes fish consumption behavior/advisory awareness surveys in ROC’s • 2004 - NOAA completes fieldwork for tidal segments w/ little or no data – completes screening surveys for Toxics Characterization

Potential Indicators • Fish Consumption: • tissue levels in representative fish • Advisory Awareness: • % respondents aware of state advisory • % respondents modified consumption behavior due to advisory • Restoring Impacted Areas (ROC) - indicators? • B4B Indicators – may want to see new workplan • Urban Stormwater Directive - indicators?
