  1. Project on- Design and Generation of High Performance MR Fluid Brake Project by- Kundan R Avchare Divyanshu jain Tarang bansal Faculty adviser- Prof. R.K. Mandloi

  2. Magnetorheological Fluids • sometimes referred to as ferrofluids • often made by mixing ferromagnetic particles (iron, cobalt, etc) into a carrier fluid such as silicone oil or even water.

  3. Magnetorheological Fluids • the ferromagnetic particles are forced into an aligned arrangement when the fluid is placed in a magnetic field

  4. Magnetorheological Fluids • The alignment of the particles in the fluid will also cause the viscosity of the fluid to increase, making the fluid seem “thicker.”

  5. Anti-Lock Braking System • Braking is considered to be one of the most important aspects in driving. • ABS is the most advance breaking system available at present. • ABS helps the driver stop quicker under wet or slippery conditions. • Allows the driver to brake and steer at the same time. • A very useful safety feature of car during emergency braking.

  6. Working of ABS A : Wheel Speed Sensors B : ECU C : Pressure Release Valves D : Brake Line to Caliper

  7. Importance of ABS

  8. Disadvantages of ABS system- • High cost • Complicated mechanisms • Heavy system

  9. MR Fluid Based ABS

  10. Features of MR fluid brakes- • Simple design. • Less no. of components. • More sensitive
