THE BASICS Teams register on FairfaxAdultSoftball.com each season Teams must comprise of a minimum 2/3 Fairfax County residents or military Exception for corporate teams Each team must have a manager and assistant manager These are administrative positions that coordinate with the FAS office Teams must submit a roster before the season Players may be added at any time but must be on a roster before they are eligible to play

FEES Each season (Spring, Summer, Fall) has a different cost dependent upon the number of games Some teams have each player pay a portion of this cost OR others pursue sponsors such as their place of work or a restaurant Fees must be submitted by the registration deadline Non-County player fees are required by the County of Fairfax The cost is $30 per player who is neither a Fairfax County Resident nor a member of the United States Military

EQUIPMENT BALLS – all teams are required to use specific balls MALES: ONLY Dudley Thunder Hycon12-inch, .52 COR, 300 lbs compression, optic yellow color FEMALES: 11-inch, .44 max COR, 375 lbs max compression, optic yellow color BATS – all teams are required to use ASA approved bats Additionally, seniors may use any bats designated for senior play UNIFORMS – are not required or provided Teams are responsible for their own uniforms if they choose, the cost is not included in the FAS fee

SEASONS and DEADLINES for 2014 Teams play mostly double headers 1 night per week Spring begins Sunday April 6 for 10 weeks; Registration Deadline is Early Summer begins Sunday June 1 for 10 weeks; Registration Deadline is Summer begins Sunday June 29 for 7 weeks; Registration Deadline is Mini begins July 20 for 5 weeks; Registration Deadline is Fall begins Tuesday September 2 for 7 weeks; Registration Deadline is

LEAGUES FAS has a variety of slow pitch leagues as well as many divisions within each league to support all levels of players Men Men, Elite, Reston Church, Reston Men, 35+ & Seniors 50+ Women Women & Women’s Fast Pitch (only non-slow pitch league we offer!) Coed Coed, Corporate Coed, Reston Coed, Reston Corporate Coed & Social Coed

  7. PRACTICE FIELDS Practice fields are available upon request Fields must be obtained through the FAS office Teams must take a permit to the field when they practice Managers apply through their manager homepage Practice must finish before dark Lights are not permitted to be used for practice

  8. RULES FAS abides by ASA rules and the FAS Rule Book Both are available in the FAS office at no charge The FAS Rule Book is also at FairfaxAdultSoftball.com Managers are encouraged to be familiar with all rules, including exceptions that are specific to their league

  9. MISSED A REGISTRATION DEADLINE? FAS is all about playing softball! We will make every effort to add teams as possible between the registration deadline and release of final schedules. Once final schedules are released it is very unlikely we can add a team HAVE NO FEAR! There is always next season!
