  3. INTRODUCTION SANITATION is a way of life.  It is the quality of living that is expressed in the clean home, the clean farm, the clean business and clean industry, the clean neighborhood and the clean community.  Being a way of life it must come from within the peopleof GA SOUTH MUNICIPALITY.

  4. HOUSEHOLD TOILET PROMOTION AND CONSTRUCTION UNDER GREATER ACCRA METROPOLITAN AREA(GAMA) SANITATION AND WATER PROJECT (SWP)

  6. HOUSEHOLD TOILET PROMOTION AND CONSTRUCTION CONT. • From March 2018 – May 2019 forty-seven(47) Household toilets were constructed. • Thirty-Four (34) Household toilets construction is on going. • Household toilets promotion is still on going.

  10. WASTE COLLECTION • ‘’One household One dustbin concept”. • Ga South Mun. Assembly has been zoned into 12 areas for waste collection. • All Households are to register with the waste service providers for waste collection • The Service providers are

  15. CLEAN-UP EXERCISES • Clean-Up exercises are organized when the need arise in collaboration with Hon. Assembly members, NGOs and The Church of Pentecost • 2018 Eight (8) clean-up exercises were organized • 2019 Already organized Seven (7)

COMPLAINS FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC • Excessive noise making from Churches / Mosques • Drinking Bars/Pub • Insanitary pit latrines • Dilapidated Toilets emitting offensive odour • Channelling of waste water or effluent on to open space or drains • Dumping and burning of refuse at an unauthorized site causing smoke nuisance • Environmental Health Officers try solving the situation

WAY FORWARD • We are pleading with the Honorable member and the general public to assist us address this issue. • The good news is that SWEEP GHANA LIMITED a waste management company is coming to Ga South Municipality. • Very soon litter bins would be mounted at various vantage points in the municipality and therefore we plead with the general public not to put refuse from their various homes into it.

  21. CONTINUATION • Health Education Promotion message has been recorded on CDs which include promotion of household toilet construction, cholera alert and indiscriminate dumping of refuse. The CD will be made available to information centers within the municipality to be played every morning and evening.
