  3. Writing • 1. Look at the picture and write down the food words that you know. Ask other students or the teacher for any words you don`t know. • 2. Which of the food items in the illustrations do you eat regulary? Which of them are good for you?

  4. Reading 1. Look at the title of this article. What do you think it will tell you to do? - eat a lot of meat - don´t eat any sugar and salt, don´t eat much sugar/salt - never eat sweets and crisps, don´t eat too many sweets and crisps

  5. Reading • 2. Read the article and check.What does the expression balanced diet mean? • 3. How many portions of the four main food groups do you eat every day? • How many snacks do you eat every day? • Make a list and compare it with other students.

  6. FOOD FOR LIFE! We all need food,but we need a balanced diet.Otherwise, we don´t get all the nutrients we need. A balanced diet means you eat all the things you need-you don´t eat t oo much of some items and not enough of others.

These are the four main food groups , with their recommended daily portions: • milk and dairy foods /including cheese,yoghurt/ • meat and fish /including eggs, chicken/ • Vegetables and fruit /including green vegetables, root vegetables,fruit juice/ • Potatoes and cereals /including bread, pasta,rice/

  8. Each group is a good source of particular nutrients. A lot of meals are a combinations of two or more of the main food groups.Goulash and rice, for example, is a combination of groups 1 and 4.A vegetarian pizza is a combination of groups 1,3 and 4. We alsoeat other things,fat,oil,salt and sugar, for example. And of course, everyone eats snack foods /crisps,sweets etc./. It´s better to eat only a little of these, because they contain a lot of fat, sugar, or salt and don´t have much food value. Disccus about particular food

  9. Work in pairs • In groups. Disccus your answers with other students in your group and then with the whole class. • 1Do you eat much eat? • 2Do you like eating vegetables? • 3Is there much meat in typical dishes from your country? • 4Can you imagine eating only vegetables?

  10. Speaking • Before you start • Listen to a health survey and complete questionare with the boy´s answers. • Do a class survey. • Write a report of your survey. • Follow the stages below. • How many items of food and drink can you name in the photograph? • Make the shopping list for weekend.
