  • Controlling the FEL power for damage

  • Use laser heater (increase E-spread 10X, but this affects HXR line)

  • Using emittance spoiler (insert a foil in SXR branch line, increase Emittance 10X)

  • 15 GW*80 fs

  • =1.2 mJ

gex,y = 5 mm

Ipk = 3.0 kA

E = 8.5 GeV

Just reach saturation in 61 m magnetic length (78 m total length

Optical Klystron (OK) ?

  • Phase shifters (small chicanes) are required to match FEL phase every undulator break for the variable-gap undulator

  • A few of these chicanes may operate as OKs (R56 ~ 2 mm) to take advantage of small E-spread and to speed up bunching

Ipk = 3.0 kA

sg= 2.7

E = 13.5 GeV
