  1. DOCUMENTARY MUSIC SCORES AND COMPOSERS COURSEWORK RESEARCH

  2. ROB MANNING COMPOSER Rob Manning is a film and tv composer and instrumentalist who has worked for documentaries such as ‘Maiden’ and ‘One Deadly Weekend in America’. He, also, scored David Attenborough’s ‘Climate Change: The Facts’. Most of Manning’s documentary scores are instrumental music (often guitar or piano) with a slow tempo. The music often has a build up or added in sound effects related to the documentary. For example, ‘Life on the Psych Ward’ used beeping noises to replicate the sound of hospitals and wards. This, also, creates eeriness for the audience of the documentary.

  4. TRUMP IN TWEETS MUSIC PLAYED The documentary ‘Trump in Tweets’ uses mostly popular chart music to create emphasis on the popular culture topic of twitter and politics. The audience seems to be a younger demographic so use of this music appeals to that age range.   The beginning montage uses ‘Funky Friday’ and ‘Ladbroke Grove’. The documentary uses pop and rap songs with a high tempo to fit the fast-paced montage and to appeal to the target audience. This helps to link the political aspect and pop culture.  Throughout the documentary, as a contrast, there are TV, static sound effects to create a dramatic and more serious effect for the audience. There are, also, haunting, ghostly sound effects which then, quickly changes the 'Makaba' (by Jain) which is an upbeat song, middle-high tempo song. It moves from dramatic to chill and upbeat to entice the audience and show the complexity of twitter, social media and in particular, Trump on twitter.
