WHAT’s NEW? Data Collection • Fall 2013 MSDS General Collection and Fall 2013 Early Childhood Collections are closed. • 11 districts did not submit by November 6th • All districts certified by November 27th • No penalties will be imposed!
WHAT’s NEW? Monitoring • ISD monitors and LEA staff participated in B-12 Data Verification activity. • Original data determined 6000 files were incomplete or noncompliant • Reduced to 72 • 28 LEAs will receive findings of noncompliance
WHAT’s NEW? Monitoring • Fall Monitoring – in December Workbook • 45 findings for B-11 (Child Find) • 14 findings for Timely, Valid, Reliable (TVR)
WHAT’s NEW? Medicaid • Federal auditors from the Office of Auditor General are in Michigan. • Auditing Michigan School Based Services Program • Expect a report in April 2014
WHAT’s NEW? Medicaid • Medicaid has determined that some services are reimbursablefor 2012-13 that were not previously reimbursable. • Transportation provided by taxi (last resort) • Agency fees related to contracted staff
WHAT’s NEW? Low Incidence Outreach • Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) test dates: • December 13, 2013 – MDE-LIO, Lansing • January 10, 2014 – Oakland ISD • January 17, 2014 – MDE-LIO, Lansing
WHAT’s NEW? Early Childhood • B-12 Validation Opportunity • 98.4% compliance rate for Indicator B-12. • Monday, November 18, 2013 was cutoff • Clarifying data receive after cutoff date was not considered
WHAT’s NEW? Early Childhood • Ideas for improved data collection through MSDS are now being accepted. • Look for B-12 findings in CIMS December Workbooks. • Indicator B-7 Child Outcomes Data reports will be emailed to ISD Special Education Directors in December.
WHAT’s NEW? Early On (Early Intervention, Part C of IDEA) • Early On performance audit can be accessed at: http://www.audgen.michigan.gov/finalpdfs/13_14/r313200012.pdf • Results of desk audits will be announced in December 15 CIMS Workbook.
