From the Director’s Desk • U.S. Education Department Awards Grants to Improve Assessments for Students with Disabilities • A new generation of alternate assessments for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. • Aligned to the common set of college- and career-ready standards • Assess knowledge of mathematics and English language arts in grades 3-8, and one grade in high school. • Awarded $22 million to: • The Dynamic Learning Maps Alternate Assessment System Consortium will be led by the University of Kansas Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services October 2010
