  2. Francesco Redi 1627-1697 • Italian Physician & Poet • Demonstrated that maggots came from flies and not meat; disproved Spontaneous Generation

  3. Francesco Redi • Lived February 18, 1626 – March 1, 1697 • In addition to being a Scientist he was also a poet. • Was born in Italy

Baroque period During the Baroque period, the idea of the modern orchestra was born, along with opera (including the overture, prelude, aria, recitative and chorus), the concerto, sonata, and modern cantata. marked by expressive dissonance and elaborate ornamentation.
