  2. Aims To introduce OCN London as an Independent Awarding organisation To brief participants about the purpose and content of three new suites of qualifications To answer queries about how these qualifications might be used

  3. Background • Not for profit educational organisation • Developing and accrediting credit based learning since 1989

  4. Background (Cont.) This learning is delivered through a wide range of ‘recognised centres’ Generally at Entry levels and Levels 1-3 on the QCF Covering a wide span of academic and vocational areas

  5. Units of learning written at different levels to accommodate learners with spikey profiles.

  6. Background (Cont.) Prior to May 2011, we were involved in the development of national qualifications through the National Open College Network (NOCN). NOCN were the Awarding Body and regional OCNs were licensed to offer NOCN qualifications. Also Bespoke courses and Local courses

OCN London • Since May 2011 OCN London have been officially recognised as an Awarding Organisation in our own right. • This means we can now: • Continue to offer NOCN qualifications • Develop and accredit Bespoke and Local courses • Develop our own qualifications for the National Qualifications and Credit Framework.

  8. OCNLR Qualifications • We have so far developed 4 suites of qualifications, three of which we are launching today. • We will shortly be launching 9 Adult Enterprise qualifications. • We will be developing new qualifications over the coming months • Arising out of locally accredited courses • Gaps in current provision (including apprenticeships)
