XBOX 2 Interlocks • Many independent interlock sources • Each can be defined in one of two ways • Normal: stops RF • Critical: stops RF and sends interlock to modulator • Possibility to add more if needed • Normal interlock status propagated through backplane and externally. Critical interlock status propagated externally

  4. Interlock properties • Once set, needs an explicit signal to reset • Interlock FPGA logic runs as soon as powered and runs regardless of software state • Starts in interlock status and uses a watchdog to interlock if no communication from software within a second • Software configurable
