Empowering Young Voters: The Student PIRGs' Impact Since 1984

Since 1984, the Student PIRGs have championed youth civic engagement by registering 1.7 million young voters and facilitating 1 million personal reminders to vote. As the largest non-partisan student mobilization effort, we helped register 500,000 young people in 2004 alone, boosting turnout by 11%. In 2008, 76.3% of those we registered cast their votes. Our mission is to amplify student voices, increase democratic participation, and train the next generation of leaders through key partnerships with organizations like Rock the Vote and the National Day of Voter Registration.

  2. About Us • Since 1984 the PIRGs have helped to register 1.7 million young people and made 1 million personal reminder contacts • We are the largest non-partisan student mobilization efforts

  4. About Us • In 2008, 76.3% of people we helped register to vote turned out to the polls, and 65% were new registrants – both were the top numbers for youth organizations
