CCOT • CCOT is similar to Comparison essay since they both look at how something is similar or different than something else. In the CCOT, the similarity is how something did not change and the differences are the changes. The important element is why things did or did not change.
CCOT • The MOST important elements of the CCOT is that the student must show what has changed and what has remained continuous throughout those changes from the BEGINNING to the END of the time period.
1. Has acceptable thesis • MUST haves: • AP • Time & Place • 3 Categories • 1:2 Ratio • 1 Change + 2 Continuities • 1 Continuity + 2 Changes
Thesis Format • TOPIC remained the same in _____________ but changed in _________________ and ____________________ (+ time and place). • Example • Between the years 1998 (or year you were born) and 2013, the life of _____________ remained the same in ________________ but changed in ________________ and _______________.
