  1. Welcome to My Tabor Groupwise & My Tabor (LMS) training Student Orientation Fall 2008

  2. While at Tabor • Technology platforms you should know • Groupwise – your email system, including calendaring and archives • My Tabor – a communication system that is integrated with Tabor’s database giving you real time information. • LMS – your online course area. It is inside the My Tabor system. • Website – www.tabor.edu – our external face with public information

  3. Logging in to the Campus Network:User name • Your user name = your formal first name, your middle initial, and your last name. -with no spaces between -all lower case letters Sample: jonathanbstudent Tip: If this combo doesn’t work, try entering your name without the middle initial. Try logging on to your lab computer now.

Logging in to the Campus Network:Password • Initial password will be • Your Tabor ID number and • The last three digits of your social security number Sample: xxxxx+ yyy = xxxxxyyy Personalize your password ASAP after this session to protect your privacy. (any combination of letters or numbers)

Changing your Password • Go online: • Log in to Groupwise with current password • Open • In upper right hand corner click “Options” • Locate “Password” tab • Complete the blanks and Save • This will change your account in the labs, in the Res. Halls and online. My Tabor passwords are changed at that site.

Network Storage Each student has a personal folder on Tabor’s electronic network in which to store his personal work. • Go to Start, My Computer, the F Drive • Find the “Students” folder • Your name should have a folder • You may add any additional folders to organize documents you save at this location. • You may upload documents from off site to this location through Groupwise.

  7. Groupwise • The primary venue for personal communications from Tabor offices and your professors. • Campus email address = username@tabor.edu • Directly connected to your LMS courses through CourseMates • Look for the Groupwise Icon on the computer lab desktop or go to the internet.

  8. Online access • To access email (Groupwise) and your network files from off-campus, use the internet access http://groupwise.tabor.edu Type in your user name and password and receive all the functions as on campus.(But it looks somewhat different)

  9. Groupwise Functions 1. send mail 2. attach documents 3. file emails 4. upload documents to your netstorage 5. calendar event 6. Keep an address book To learn about these functions go to My Tabor/Campus Life/Computer Orientation/ Groupwise Functions.

  10. My Tabor intranet site • Two ways to access My Tabor • From Tabor’s internet www.tabor.edu Find the My Tabor link just under the Banner. • Type in the URL: https://my.tabor.edu • Tip: just type “my.tabor.edu” • Log-in as for your email or network access.

Features of interest • After you log-in you will arrive at your personal pages, called “My Pages.” • Personalized information at first sight. • Announcements – those targeted for you • Groups – as you join e-groups you will have quick links to those pages • Courses - go directly to your course sites • Calendar – put your appointments here & share accessm schedule appointments with groups. • No one sees your personal page, but you.

  12. Personal page edits • “Edit page” lets you add portlets, change the layout. • Click edit page (top right) • Click Content • Click Add portlets • 10 options, check boxes and save • The wrenches allow you to edit the portlet and create custom content.

  13. My Info Tab: Academic Page See Menu (right side) for portlets on the page • Grade Report • Student Schedule • Unofficial transcript • Degree Audit Caution • Degree Audit • GPA projection • All My Courses • Registration • Course Search

  14. My Financial Info page • My Account Info • Financial Aid Awards • Financial Aid Document Tracking • Tabor College Financial Aid Program • Terms of Financial Settlement (policy)

  15. My Housing Info • Residence Hall information • Residence Hall Group communication may occur here.

  16. Campus Life Tab: public events and information • Tabor Informer • Job openings • Want Ads • Events promoted • Computer Orientation Info • Groups – join, create, browse public groups

  17. Quick Links – Right Menu • Personal • My courses – direct access to your current courses • My pages – you may add pages from another site to your page. • Public • Message Center • Chapel Schedule • Link to Tabor Website • Public announcements/ Closed courses

  18. Access to CSI • Are you logged in at My Tabor? • Are you on your personal page? (My Pages tab) • Go to the Announcement portlet • Click on “Freshmen about CSI” • In the announcement you will see a link that begins with “Early Alert”, click that link. • You should be at the CSI site now and need to log in with your user name and Tabor ID, with a T in front. • Please wait for further verbal instructions from your peer advisor.

  19. Before you leave • You are welcome to change your password as time allows • Please log off
