  3. AS YOUR TEACHER, I PROMISE . . . • My promise to you is to provide a safe learning environment. • My promise to you is to treat you with dignity and respect. • My promise to you is to be the best teacher that I know how to be.

  4. AS MY STUDENT, YOU PROMISE . . . To respect all adults in our building To treat your classmates and other students with dignity and respect. To treat yourself with dignity and respect. To act Responsibly in all areas of OLHMS. To act in a safe manner in all areas of OLHMS.

  5. ENTERING ROOM 2002 Enter quietly and talk as little as possible. Immediately go to your assigned seat. Read the “Today We Will” statement and agenda posted on the board. Take out any assigned homework and materials that are needed for the period. Do your Daily Warm-up – posted on the board.

  6. IN THE CLASSROOM . . . YOU NEED • Blue or Black ink pens, no pencils. • Notebook paper. • Binder with dividers. • Highlighters. • Organizer. • Language Arts 2 Pocket Folder.

  7. WHILE IN THE CLASSROOM . . . • Raise your hand if you have a question or comment. • Listen respectfully when someone else is talking. • Remain in your seat at all times. Raise your hand if you need to leave your seat. • Keep your books and supplies either on your desk or placed neatly underneath. • Only have on your desk the necessary materials for your success in the classroom. YOU MAY GO TO YOUR LOCKERS AFTER PERIODS: 2,5,9,10

  8. PUTTING YOUR NAME ON YOUR PAPER . . . • Always put the proper heading on your paper so that you can get the credit you deserve. Be sure to use the correct heading at all times. LLand of No Name Papers! StopNo Name Papers!

  9. Your Name (1st/Last) L.A. / Period________ Date Assignment title • 1. Use HEADING above on loose-leaf paper only. Do not use the perforated paper in your spiral notebook. • Use same color ink throughout the paper. • Neatness is required, no cross-outs, folding marks, stains or wrinkled papers. • Write on one side unless otherwise directed. • Handwritten papers must be legible and with consistency in using cursive, printing or typing. • 6. For word processed papers use a font size that is appropriate and easy to read. Preferred font size is 12 and preferred fonts are Comic Sans or Times New Roman. Remember to double space sentences and to indent paragraphs.

  10. Homework • You will be required to complete some work as homework. • If you do not complete an assignment, it will be due the following day or you will get reduced credit for the assignment. • Correct headings and titles need to be on all assignments. • I rarely give homework on the week-ends or over extended holidays (winter or spring break). • Check the homework portal if you are absent or your Study-Buddy.

  11. HOMEWORK . . . • It is your responsibility to write down your homework in your Organizer. • It is your responsibility to ask for help on your homework assignments or to clarify the assignment before leaving class. • You can always e-mail mewith your questions if you are absent. • You may also call your Study Buddy or use the OLHMS web site and go to Teacher Pages. • If you know you will not be in school you need to let me know as soon as possible so that I can provide assignments for you to complete.

  12. YOUR BOOKS . . . • You are responsible for your textbooks. • Your Holt Textbook stays in the classroom and is shared with 2 other Block classes. You can access your text online with a username and password I will give you. • You are expected to bring an SSR book to class every day and return to the Library on time.

  13. Missing Assignments All work is due on it’s due date. Grades for late work will be reduced. Missing work is not acceptable. You must turn in all assignments. Working lunch and/or Power Hour Hour will be required until all work is completed. Extra Credit is never given as a means to make up missing work. Please do not ask for extra credit!

  14. AT THE END OF CLASS. . . Complete the Exit Slip. Clean up the area around your desk. Wait until I dismiss you. Students who pack up before the bell rings will be the last to leave the classroom. Remember, I am the Bell!

  15. A FINAL THOUGHT . . . • Remember to ask for help anytime you need it! Don’t think your question or problem is “dumb”. Smart people are the ones who ask questions. • Your future is in your hands. • I truly believe in your potential. There is no one else like you in the whole, entire world. It is not enough, however, for me to believe in you. You also need to believe in your potential too! • Believe that you can be successful this year and it will happen!
