About China • The Chinese anthem is ‘March of the Volunteers’ • The capital city of China is Beijing. • The largest city in China is Shanghai. • The official language in China is Mandarin. • Han is the biggest ethnic group and there is approximately 55 others. • The president of China is Xi Jingping. • The area around China is 9,600,000km². • The population of China is 1,360,330,000. • Population density of China is 141 per km².

  3. There are 61 counties in China that has a population over 1 million people and Ireland has only 1. • The east side of China is densely populated. • Two important rivers in china are: • The Yellow river – Huánghé • The Long river – Chángjiáng.

Chinese Flag • The Chinese flag is red in colour. • It has 5 yellow stars on it. • The big yellow star represents the Communist Party of China. • The four smaller stars represent China’s social classes – the working class, peasantly, the urban petty bourgeoisie and the national bourgeoisie. • On the 1st of October 1949 the Chinese flag was raised for the first time by Mao Zedong above Tiananmen Square.
