  1. Ads: Setting up shop and choosing a topic 10/17/13

  2. Warm-up • What is a PSA? What is there purpose? How do advertisements and PSA’s use taglines?

  3. Group roles • For this project, each of you will be assigned a role. In that role you will be responsible for ensuring that a specific task of the project gets completed. This does not mean that you are not part of the other tasks. On the contrary, you are simply the leader of your assigned portion. • SH 33 – 38: Sample proposal • Sock Friend

  4. Getting set up • Discuss and assign group roles • Choose the best person for each role. • Each person must have a role • Discuss the possible topics. • As a group, choose the topic you will be presenting. • Do not discuss possible commercial ideas. Simply discuss which topic you are interested in pursuing. • Record your information of P15: Proposal I

  5. Backgrounders SH 41-46 What you know What you need to know After looking at the information you have, create a list of facts and questions you still need to research. Use the Student Handbook pages as a guide. • Brainstorm everything you already know about the topic. Be as specific as possible.

  6. Planning and storyboarding

  7. Answer in CSIQ • Think of commercials you’ve seen on T.V. for different products. What is your favorite? Why? • What makes that commercial work from an advertising standpoint? • Why would you buy the product or take action based on the advertisement?

  8. Proposal checklist SH 47 • For each of the items in section 1, right yes/no for completion. For each no, record who will complete the task. • During work time today, section 1 tasks take priority.

  9. The proposal: P16-17 • Each group will submit a final proposal. You may use the remaining sheets to take your notes and jot down ideas. I will make copies of the final proposal for each group member to place in their individual portfolios. • Complete P16-17 as a group. Pages SH 50-51 provide additional information. Be sure to develop a catchy tagline.

  10. Proposal Checklist • Revisit the checklist for section 2. Remember to assign any incomplete tasks to a specific person.
