A Grand Victorian Feast: Crafting an Extravagant Menu Inspired by the Era

Step into the opulence of the Victorian era with our extravagant feast inspired by the rich culinary traditions of the time. We began by researching typical meals to understand the era's dining customs, selecting dishes across multiple courses. With Victorians often enjoying two-course meals featuring up to 20 dishes, we carefully curated an authentic menu. Our selections for the main course and delightful puddings reflect the Victorian penchant for luxurious dining experiences, including the introduction of afternoon tea—an iconic meal they popularized.

  2. Step 1 • We first of all decided what era we wanted to base our menu on (Victorian) and carried out some background research to determine the types of food they had and what a typical meal was like. • We selected how many courses and dishes per course were necessary. • Fact: Victorians often had 2 course meals with up to 20 dishes.

  3. Step 2 • We selected the dishes for the main course and made sure that they were suitable for the time.

  4. Step 3 • We then selected the dishes for the pudding and again made sure that they were suitable for the time. • Fact: For example we selected afternoon tea because the Victorians invented this.
