6. Mission Statement Demonstrate emerging robotic technologies that address capability gaps and are synchronized with S&T challenges and Warfighter Outcomes. Identify and recommend robust solutions for further experimentation.

7. Event Objectives A combination of task-based open events and ‘free-style’ demonstrations for market research, not source selection. This will be an opportunity for contractors and academia who may be new to the Army to demonstrate products and technology that are at or above TRL 6 in a operationally relevant environment, and provide contractors valuable exposure to military personnel.

14. Vignette Theme The theme for this year’s vignettes is support for the Combat Outpost (COP). We are looking for robotic technologies that demonstrate the capability to: • Deploy • Setup • Protect • Sustain • Relocate

Vignette #1 Corral”Setup, Deploy, and Relocate” • The robot must autonomously establish hasty prone fighting positions on a section of a combat outpost perimeter based on locations given by the operator. • This vignette specifically addresses S&T Challenge: • 1a (Force Protection – Basing) • WFO Protection. 16. Vignette #1 Corral”Setup, Deploy, and Relocate” Requirements • Arrive: Sling-Loadable. UH-60 (6,000lbs) • Drive vehicle to starting location • Position vehicle at center of desired perimeter • Orient vehicle to face threat • Dig/Trench sets of Hasty Prone Fighting Positions on a 100ft. radius • Dig 1 set (Threshold), Dig 9 sets per hour (Objective) • Provide Soil Berm on threat side. Sets of two: 12” deep 30” wide 84” long Hasty Prone Fighting Position No soldier operators unless Safety release

17. Vignette #2 Gunslinger”Protect” • The robot must identify and alert the operator of potential hostile activity, then acquire and track moving targets. The purpose is to test the ability to autonomously discern friend or foe and be able to acquire targets from a squad transportable platform. This protection capability would be useful for small units operating away from the FOB or COP. This vignette will occur in both daylight and hours of darkness. Targets will be actual OPFOR in various dress and equipment configurations either walking, crouching or crawling. System will acquire and track target with man-in-the-loop to fire MILES Target Verification System. No actual weapons will be fired at the targets. • This vignette addresses: • S&T Challenge 1b (Force Protection – Soldier/Small Unit); • WFO-Protection • Capability Gap (Corps and Below staff units lack ability to organically protect themselves from threats while conducting mobile operations during CAM/WAS). Vignette #2 Gunslinger”Protect” Requirements Acquire and Track people approaching COP within 100m whether they are walking, crouching, or crawling. 180 degree FOV Engage threat target with STORM Laser Designator (weapon surrogate) Confirm “Hit” with MILES Target Verification Day (Threshold), Night (Objective)

19. Vignette #3 Wagon Train”Sustain” • The robot must autonomously navigate to designated multiple locations and safely unload materiel in a specified order. Pallets representing different classes of supply will be utilized. The focus areas are autonomous navigation and materiel handling capabilities. • This vignette addresses: • S&T Challenge 2a (Overburdened – Physical Burden) • S&T Challenge 4a (Sustainability/Logistics) • WFO – Sustainment • Capability Gap (Modular force doesnot have sufficient Materiel Handling Equipment • to receive, store and issue palletized cargo).
