  2. Who Are We, Why and When Were We Formed? • WHO: • IEC TC 100 management team • TAM and TS of TA 9 • PT leaders for IEC 62087 (Ed. 2 and Ed. 3) • US representative to IEC Standards Management Board (SMB) Strategic Group (SG) 1 Energy efficiency and renewable resources • Other experts • WHY: • Motivated by the increased attention on energy efficiency standards, regulations, and activities • WHEN: • Formed after Sao Paulo • WHERE • Under the AGS

  3. What Are We Doing? • Developing an IEC TC 100 energy efficiency strategy • Fact finding • Investigation of energy efficiency related to the IEC TC 100 standardization work, and • Current status: review of SMB SG1 Recommendations in terms of the IEC TC 100 programme of work • Analysis of the IEC Standards Management Board (SMB) Strategic Group (SG) 1 recommendations and other SG1 activities

  4. What Are We Doing? • The EEAHG participants are encouraged to recommend future energy activities to the TC 100 Advisory Group on Strategy (AGS) • New ISO proposal: “Criteria on the methods for calculating and evaluating the economic benefits of electricity saving measures” • New ISO/IEC NWIP on “Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources” • Ongoing project: “IEC TC 111 ‘Environmental Standardization for Electrical and Electronic Products and Systems’” • Idea for a new Technical Area (TA) on Energy Efficiency

  5. Original Objective and Scope of the EEAHG • To promote an awareness of energy efficient multimedia and systems and / or equipment • To include energy efficiency with performance standards for standalone and networked multimedia equipment • To develop neutral measurement methods that may assist all stakeholders, including the manufacturers, and users, when comparing energy efficiency • To seek collaboration, and possible harmonization, with other IEC groups, as appropriate, on the topic of energy efficiency • To recommend to the IEC TC 100 Advisory Group on Strategy (AGS) directions for future energy efficiency methodologies

  6. Summary • Who, why, when, and where still make sense
