L&AT ASSIGNMENT 2010 – deadline: April 30, 2010 Find 5 examples, in whatever text (novels, textbooks, the Bible, newspapers, research papers, internet, etc.): 1 example of demonstrative argument (or proof); 2 examples of argumentative reasoning; 1 example of fallacy; 1 example of para-argument. For each one of them: - describe its components and structure; - spot the category it belongs (proof, proper argument, fallacy, para-argument); - say why it may (or may not) be persuasive; - figure out a possible strategy for counteracting it.
