  2. Local Government Act, 2000 Places on principal local authorities a duty to: “prepare a community strategy for promoting or improving the economic, social and environmental well-being of their areas, and contributing towards sustainable development in the UK”.

What is the Bristol Partnership? • The Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) • A partnership of public, private, business, community and voluntary sectors • Aligned to local authority boundaries • Operates at strategic level responding to neighbourhood priorities • Manager of Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, Objective 2, SRB 3 and 6. • Author of the Community Strategy

What is the Bristol Partnership? • A voice for Bristol with clear vision and strategy for taking Bristol forward • A partnership where all partners can lend weight to and contribute collectively and individually to making the strategy for Bristol happen • A partnership which communicates with the communities of Bristol and outside on behalf of Bristol people.

Purpose of LSPs • Prepare and implement a Community Strategy for the area • Work with all interest groups to deliver strategy • Bring together plans, partnerships and initiatives and provide a forum for mainstream public services to work together • Develop and deliver the local neighbourhood renewal strategy

Next steps • Update Community Strategy and Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy • Continue `mainstreaming’ and implementing the Community Strategy • Develop long term direction for the city and the partners • Develop the Partnership as effective voice for the city and engine for strategic change – which delivers real benefit to people of Bristol
