Media Milestones in Q2’10 • 16 new Science Highlight stories developed for 2010 book • 29 Stories or Press Releases total Q2 • 172 news “events” where TeraGrid was mentioned in a unique way on the World Wide Web (per Google Alerts for the term “TeraGrid”– there were 330 in all of 2009) • Increased outreach efforts to professional organizations • More Buzz among bloggers • International coverage increased • iSGTW • OSG/TG Collaboration • Q3 will have more--TG/DEISA Workshop coverage beginning in July

TeraGrid Extension Year • Additional graphic design services—Shandra Williams, PSC • TGXX & SCXX conference communication needs • Web design work • Documentation • Misc. • Additional science writing—Jan Zverina, SDSC • Story development for Science Highlights • TG’10 Communication needs • Additional focus on TeraGrid-wide stories

  4. 2010 Science Highlights—focus on the future • Led by Warren Froelich, SDSC and designed by Carlton Bruett, Carlton Bruett Design • Message from Forum Chair—The Future is Now—TeraGrid’s transition to XD • 16 Stories representative of research leveraging TeraGrid resources—chosen with following criteria:1. Potentially transform research in a particular domain. 2. Demonstrate the use of several TeraGrid resources across multiple RP sites. 3. Represent research conducted at a single RP—each of the eleven RP sites is represented. 4. Highlight work of individuals who are typically under-represented in HPC. 5. Illuminate projects in fields of study that are typically under-represented in HPC. 6. Demonstrate TeraGrid's impact—research that couldn't have been accomplished without it. 7. Collaboration with other grids, international partners, business, and industry. • Highlight about how TeraGrid resources were used to mitigate the oil spill. Featured on a poster for the October 22-24 NSF Science and Technology Expo in Washington DC, and on a prominent display in the SC’10 booth (TACC and LONI stories).

  5. TRAC Process Involvement • ER continues to watch the TRAC process in an effort to identify stories early in the process. • Dan Katz and Elizabeth Leake alternate attending TRAC meetings in search of new highlights. • A letter from Katz and Leake is included in the TRAC reviewer packet. • Leake issues the quarterly deadline announcement, which also publicizes the number of cycles awarded in the previous quarter, resources available for the current cycle, and other information relevant to the transition to XD.
