  3. What is graphology..? ****************** Considered both art and science, Graphology is more usually known as handwriting analysis. It involves the study of handwriting with the aim of revealing the character and personality of the writer, including his or her strengths, weaknesses and abilities.

History of Graphology Not a modern invention * first developed by the Chinese 3,000 years ago. * The Romans used graphology. * The earliest treatise on the subject dates back to 1622.Efforts to collect graphology principles began with the French Abbe Jean who, in 1872, gave graphology its name.

  6. The Uses of Graphology The technique of graphology is mainly used professionally today to help; • select personnel for key positions, • marriage compatibility, • guidance for school leavers as to what sort of career would suit them. • for personal use. Can you think of others uses ..?

What the handwriting analysis can and cannot do: *  Handwriting analysis can give you up to 300 character attributes of the writer.*  Handwriting analysis can generally indicate the emotional feelings of the writerat the time he/she is writing. *  Handwriting analysis can not predict the future. *  Handwriting analysis cannot differentiate between a male and female writer. * Additionally, a graphologist cannot detect the age of the writer. 

  8. What a graphologist is looking for..? • Size • Slant • Width • Zones • Regularity • Margin • Pressure • Stroke • Lines • Connection • Form of connection • Word and line spacing

  9. Some basic examples Handwriting Characteristic - Slant (handwriting) of the letters • A forward slant indicates high emotional expressiveness • Vertical handwriting indicates moderate, restrained emotional expression • A left slant indicates emotional withdrawal.

Angle of the lines on unlined paper • An upward slant indicates higher energy. • A downward slant or lines with trail off the page indicate low energy or physical exhaustion. • A slant to the right can indicate sensitivity • While a slant to the left can indicate a hardness of the character. • Fairly straight writing can indicate a balanced frame • or state of mind.
