Analysis Methodology • Primary data sources: • 2000 Census, 5% Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) • 2002 Survey of Minority Owned Businesses • Bureau of Labor Statistics, Current Population Survey • Maryland Higher Education Commission • Definitions: • Middle Income is defined as earning income between $35,000 and $75,000 • African Americans and whites do not include Hispanic persons • Households are all persons occupying a housing unit and does not require them to be related.
