  2. The Modern Version Of Jesus • Politically correct • Tolerant of all views and behavior • Non-offensive • Non-judgmental • Non-confrontational • Emotional appeal

  3. How Do We Know? • Go back to God’s word! • 1 Corinthians 4:6, Acts 17:11, 1 Peter 4:11 • Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

  4. Modern “Christianity” is filled with emotionalism. • Better felt than told • “I wouldn’t trade what I feel for all the Scripture in the world.” • Seen in what passes for worship. • Mood music, entertainment, storytelling by showmen (or showwomen)

  5. The religion of Christ appeals to the intellect. • Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,”Says the Lord,…” • Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” • Mark 10:1 The He arose from there and came to the region of Judea by the other side of the Jordan. And multitudes gathered to Him again, and as He was accustomed, He taught them again. • Matthew 11:15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

  7. We must hear and understand that message. • Matthew 13:10-17 • Acts 8:26-30 • Ephesians 4:17-19, 5:17; 2 Peter 1:2-4, 2:18-20 • epignosis

  8. His Miracles confirmed who he was and the word he spoke. • John 3:2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” • Cf. Mark 2:1-12, Matthew 11:1-6, John 6:26, 44-45, 20:30-31, Mark 16:20, Hebrews 2:1-4, Acts 13:7-12
