  4. Basic Lab Rules These rules will help keep you safe when in the lab... • Wear protective gear • Goggles • Gloves • Apron/smock

  5. 2. NO food or drinks (aside from bottled water) in the lab 3. Tie long hair back 4. No running or goofing around

  6. 5. Be aware of safety equipment • Eye wash • Fire extinguisher • Fume hood 6. Do not taste, smell, or touch ANY unknown substances unless okay’ed by a teacher • Use the wafting technique

  7. 7. Read and understand the lab instructions before diving in. 8. ALWAYS report accidents to the teacher

  8. 9. Wash your hands and materials after each experiment 10. Never leave a flame unattended! 11. Keep flammable materials away from heat sources! 12. Measure and pour carefully
