GROUP LEADER ROLE • ENSURE TO FOLLOW THE ITINERARY CHALKED OUT FOR THE GROUP • FOLLOW THE TIMINGS IN MOVING FROM ONE PLACE TO OTHER BY BUSES, VANS SND WHILE TREKKING • CONTACT LOCAL AUTHORITIES WHENEVER HELP IS REQUIRED • COORDINATE WITH THE ACCOMPANYING STAFF • SUBMIT A DAILY REPORT ON COMPLETION OF TREK REGARDING ANY MIS CONDUCT BY ANY OT • SUBMIT A DETAILED TOUR REPORT • AGL TO TAKE CARE OF FOOD ARRANGEMENT • TREASURER SHALL ENSURE DOCTORS VISIT THE HALTING POINTS

  8. ACCOMPANYING STAFF • Special task force members: 2 • Armed force members:2 • Anti poaching Squad members: 4 • Forest Guards: 2 • Total 10 members • Total trek team will be of 29 members including 19 OTs

  9. Communication • Daily departure information • Daily arrival information • Doctors visit • Provisions requirement including drinking water

General Information • Trek is for 5 days • Around 19 OTs will be formed in to ONE GROUP • Trek starts every day at 7.00 am after Br’ fast • Night halts at identified Base Camps • Arrangements for your stay, food etc. at the trek points are made • Less luggage – more comfortable • Neverseparate from the group during trekking • STF or Armed Reserve police, Anti-poaching watchers, Forest Guides will be accompanying the group every day • RED, WHITE AND YELLOW COLOR DRESSES STRICTLY PROHIBITED DURING TREK

  11. General Information • NO SMOKING AND NO SHOUTING DURING THE TREK IN THE FOREST • You will be given Ruck Sack, Sleeping Bag and one plate,one steel glass, one spoon at HRDI. You have to carry all these along with you for your use. These items must be returned after the trek. Any damage or lost, you have compensate • First Aid Kit will be given to you containing general medicines • In case of any problem during the trek, do not stop. Don’ get scared. Keep on moving. Inform to the police / forest staff accompanying you. Medical team will attend you immediately at trek point • Weather in the night will be cold. Warm clothing is required. Day will be pleasant. • If you are lucky! you may come across wild animals

  12. General Information • Definitely you will have to bare with leeches • Carry some salt powder as a precautionary measure from leeches • Carry at least 6-8 torches • Carry extra pairs of socks • Carry water bottle. You may not get any thing during the trek in the forest • Carry Camera and take good photos including trekking photos • At each trek point cook team is arranged. You will be provided br’fast at each trek point. You will be given a packed lunch. Dinner will be at the next trek point. • You have to carry all your belongings with you every day. You will not be coming to the same trek point again • You will be starting on 28th at 4 PM to Ooty • You will be reaching 1st Base camp by evening on 30th September and halt.

  13. General Information • You start actual trekking on 1st October morning • You will be completing your trek on 5th October and halt at the last trek point • On 6th October morning, you will be reaching to OOTY. • District Collector and senior Forest Officials and others may interact with you for your feed back and de-briefing • After lunch, at 1 pm you will leave Ooty for Hyderabad • All required arrangements for your trekking are being looked by the District Administration, the Nilgiris and the Institute coordinating team • Cooperate and support the administration and also each other for a successful, enjoyable, memorable trekking experience

  14. IMPORTANT • Read Trek manual carefully • No OT will be allowed to change groups.
