  3. Background • CCSS=clear goals and benchmarks • set of standards that can compare to other states and countries • formed by best effective standards from different areas • supposed to prepare for career and college Before: • different standards in different areas • hard to see student progress

  4. pros and cons • CCSS will be able to compare to other countries accurately to improve • students will be able to travel without worrying about school • standards make sure kids know what need to know at a certain time • formed by highest most effective stanards used • special needs students won't get modified tests • ELL students can fall behind due to such emphasis on English in each class • schools will have to update everything causing more expenses • big transition
