  3. Why ? Post Hurricane Search and Rescue In June of 2006, partners within ESF-9 SAR, met and discussed major issues with the overall process of conducting search and rescue operations in Chatham County after a major hurricane.

ASOC Responsibilities Organize Aviation Assets Assign Missions to support local “SAR” Efforts Determine and assign appropriate aircraft for the mission Develop De-Confliction plan Communicate Weather Conditions Manage Aircraft/Ground Logistical Support Manage Safety Program Maintain Communications with Aviation assets Overdue Aircraft

  7. Aviation Missions • Search and Rescue • Personnel Transport • Equipment and Supplies • Grid Search • Damage Assessment • Law Enforcement • Over Flights (City, County, State Officials) • Logistical Support (outside affected area)

  8. HOW? 3 Air Boss dispatches appropriate aircraft for mission 1 SAR Team makes request through Area Command to EOC 2 Request is passed to ASOC Aviation Support for SAR Personnel

Supplies and Equipment: Description Approximate weight Weather Sensitive Location:Point of Pick-up, Drop-off Street Address, Lat/Long, Place, Grid Communications:Drop-off, Pick-up Frequency and call signs
