Rules of Engagement • Airspace over Iraq & Kuwait is a NFZ for non-combatants, must have prior AOC approval • Combat ops confined to Iraq and areas of incursion of Iraqi forces (including Kuwait and Saudi Arabia) • Only military targets will be attacked • ALL Coalition Forces MUST Squawk Mode 1, 2, & 4 when operating in the AOR SD

  14. Rules of Engagement (cont) • Hostile declaration authority delegated to Bandsaw • Hostile Intent is defined as: • Must Be Bandit • 150 - 180 aspect toward friendly forces • Within 30 NM • ALTITUDE DOES NOT MATTER! • Right of self defense is never denied SD

Rules of Engagement (cont) • A HOSTILE is any Iraqi military aircraft (i.e., BANDIT) committing a hostile act against Coalition Forces • Hostile acts include EA, weapons release, illumination w/Fire Control radar (Spike), combat support activities • Aircraft originating in neutral countries will not be intercepted/engaged without AOC approval, except in self defense SD

Rules of Engagement (cont) • Patriot Engagements: • Clear avenue of fire • No friendly aircraft within 5nm of line of fire • No friendly aircraft within 5nm radius and +/- 5K ft of tgt • Target designated a bogey or bandit for “Duster” to cover • Target must be declared Hostile for “Duster” to engage • Target must be within MEZ for “Duster” to engage • Remove pairing bars to avoid targeting ambiguity SD
