  3. PMRF Site RAOB Data QA Update • All planned dedicated RAOBs at the PMRF site have been launched, and all granules ≤ 500 km have been acquired. • High vertical resolution data have been “downgraded” into 100 layer • QA of RAOB data has been ongoing and near completion. • File naming errors (due human error) have been corrected (file names contained the date/time launch information). • Eliminated data at the beginning of the soundings when the sonde was maintained at the pre-launch altitude.  Vaisala said that the humidity data in particular is suspect when the sonde is not moving due to poor ventilation. • In May, the temperature sensor on the ground check station failed early.  As a result, the temperature sensors on the sondes did not have an offset applied by the ground check station, which may lead to a small (RAOB-to-RAOB) random error of ≈0.2 K. • Vaisala says that a new temperature sensor that was put in the ground check station was miscalibrated by −0.3°C (for RAOB data starting with the overpass at 12Z on 2012-09-19, affecting ≈17 soundings). Still waiting on the final word on this, and then these soundings will be reprocessed. • The remaining RAOBs, originally were obtained using an older version of the Vaisala DigiCORA software, have been reprocessed the latest version. • The Aerospace Corp. is trying to obtain the blanket clearance for the data to be used for scientific results/publication.
