  3. Initial Planning Form a committee to : • Identify the condition of Bayview Library using SWOT analysis • Take necessary actions

  4. Weaknesses • Less collaboration • Limited e-resources • Insufficient space • Shortage of staff • Less services and facilities • Destroyed valuable collections

  5. Opportunities • May have a chance to get more possible donors • Greater collaboration with other libraries • More enhanced and advanced technology in library • Providing new services

  6. Threats • Work overloaded • Compete with Google and other information provider • Short period of time to build/move to the interim library • Give stress to staff • Less user

  7. Proposed Programs • Writing interim library policy : collection development, cataloging, services (e.g Only in-library used collections) • Action plan

  8. Action Plan • Building network with other university libraries • Strengthening e-services, including e-reference, on-line tutorial, etc. • Interlibrary services, including with public and special libraries • Consortium of e-resources subscription, cataloging, information packaging services

Action Plan (Cont.) • The students can use the facilities and resources from respective libraries and related parties (facilitate book drops in the malls) • Mobile libraries for members of respective libraries and promote library services through mobile facilites (sms, email, etc.) • Socialize/promoting the future library that they are going to build.

  10. Bayview’s contributions • Sharing experties: e.g.offer IL Courses which can be attended by students from other universities/community to make members having skills in using informations derived from the internet • Offering reference services, including e-reference, face-to-face consultation, research consultation

Discussion with Donor for the new library • Building Hybrid library in standardized library building facilities • Better facilities: learning commons, services and facilities for difable (different abilities : low vision blind, deaf, etc.) that suit the user needs n behabiour. • Greater collaboration with other university libraries in terms of collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, services (inter-library loan, reference services), administration, staff development-cut cost • Special membership for the donor • Naming the building after his mother’s name
