  2. He Was Rich • His Wealth was Infinite “All things were made by him, and without him was not anything made that was made” – John 1:3 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in the earth, visible and invisible…” – Colossians 1:16

  3. He Was Rich • He was the Heir of all things “The image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.” – Colossians 1:15 “All Power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” – Matthew 28:18

  4. “Though He Was Rich….He Became Poor” • He removed His glory and covered Himself with the flesh of Humanity • Hebrews 2:9-10 • Philippians 2:5-10

  5. He Became Poor • His Home in Galilee • He Entered the World Wrapped in swaddling clothes in a manger, “because there was no room for them in the inn.” Luke 2:7 • He was raised in a despised city “Can Any Good Thing Come Out of Nazareth?” John 1:46

He Became Poor • During His Earthly Ministry “The foxes have holes, the fowls of the air have their nests, but the Son of man hath not where to lay His head.” Matthew 8:20 • His Disciples were Poor “Jesus went…through the corn; and his disciples an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.” Matthew 12:1

  7. He Became Poor • He had no Money to Pay Taxes. “…go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth thou shalt find a piece of money; that take, and give unto them for me and thee” Matthew 17:27

  8. He Became Poor • When Accused of Crimes, Not one Wealthy man offered assistance. • Forsaken by His Few Friends. • Crucified between Two Thieves. • Buried in Another's Grave.

  9. He Became Poor • He became Spiritually Alone • His Disciples could not understand. • He was Alone in the Garden Gethsemane. “and being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground” Luke 22:44

  10. He Became Poor • His Father Forsook Him. “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Matthew 27:46 • The Prophet Isaiah wrote 700 years earlier about the death of the Christ. -- Isaiah 53:3,4 -- Despised, Rejected, Esteemed Not, Smitten of God, Afflicted.

  11. That Ye Might Be Rich • He laid aside His Glory that we might enter into His Glory. • He Gave up ALL that we might receive ALL. – John 14:1-6 • He Walked a Lonely path that we might find the path to heaven. • He was willing that all men forsake Him that we might have fellowship with Him.

  12. That Ye Might Be Rich • He walked up Golgotha's hill that we might tread the streets of gold. • He wore a crown of thorns that we might wear a crown of glory. II Timothy 4:8 • He was mocked as King with a robe of purple that we might be clothed in righteousness. • He suffered that we might Reign.

  13. That Ye Might Be Rich • He entered death that we might enter eternal life. I Corinthians 15:20-23 • He went to the grave that we might see heaven. • He was made sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. I Peter 2:21-25

  14. An Amazing Demonstration “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” II Corinthians 8:9 FOR YOUR SAKES
