The Titanic: Construction, Maiden Voyage, Sinking, and Aftermath

The Titanic, built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast from 1909 to 1912 for White Star Line, was a marvel of engineering, measuring 269.1 meters in length. Onboard facilities included an infirmary, an operating room, and a Marconi wireless radio station for telegraphs. The ship embarked on its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City on April 10, 1912. Tragically, it struck an iceberg on April 14, leading to the loss of 1,517 lives, with only 706 survivors rescued by the RMS Carpathia, highlighting the disaster's profound impact.
