  13. Sample Appeal Letter/Email Dear Nana, My 5th grade class is going to Washington, DC in February. Yeah! I am so excited to learn about our nation’s history. Some of my classmates cannot afford to cover the $350 fee to go. I really want to help them. Our PTA set up a website to help our 5th grade class raise funds so everyone can go. Will you help out my class by donating to our DC trip? It’s really easy to - you can donate right here. Our goal is $1,000 by November 13th. Would you consider giving $50? Any amount will really help. Thanks! Love, Your Child’s Name P.S. I promise to tell you all about our trip when I get back! The intro: • Personalize the salutation • What you’re doing • When you’re going • Why you’re going (its meaning to you) The ask: • Why you need their help • Frame it: we’re helping out kids who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend • How they can donate • Where to donate (link) • How much: Suggest an amount • Thank them! • Sign it • Self-interest: Tell them what they will get out of it / in return • Donation is tax-deductible Back
